Get started with FlipMatic

Install FlipMatic, open it, and make it yours in a few minutes

Install on Windows

  1. Open the installer you downloaded from flipmatic.app.
  2. If Windows shows Windows protected your PC, click More info, then Run anyway. Windows shows this for apps it does not know yet.
  3. Follow the installer. It installs FlipMatic for your user account only, so it does not ask for an administrator password.
  4. On the last page, leave the box to open FlipMatic checked and click Finish. The first time, FlipMatic opens full screen.

FlipMatic runs on Microsoft Edge WebView2, a free part of Windows 11. If a computer does not have it, FlipMatic says so and offers to open Microsoft's download page.

Install on Mac

  1. Move FlipMatic to your Applications folder and open it.
  2. If macOS says it cannot check the app: on macOS 15 Sequoia or later, open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway, then confirm. On earlier versions, Control-click the app, choose Open, then Open again.
  3. FlipMatic opens in a window. Click the green button, or press F, to fill the screen.

You only do this once. After that FlipMatic opens like any other app.

Install on Linux

  1. Download the AppImage from flipmatic.app. It runs on 64-bit Intel and AMD computers with Ubuntu 22.04 or later, Debian 12 or later, or Fedora 40 or later.
  2. Allow it to run: in your Files app, right-click it, open Properties and turn on Executable as Program. On older systems it is called Allow executing file as program.
  3. Open it. The first time, FlipMatic opens full screen. Press Esc to leave full screen, or F11 to switch.

On Ubuntu, Debian or Mint you can install the .deb instead. Open a terminal in the folder you saved it to and run sudo apt install ./flipmatic_*_amd64.deb. FlipMatic then sits in your app menu.

Find your way around

  • Settings, Sound and Full screen: move the mouse and three round buttons appear in the bottom-right corner. They fade away a few seconds after you stop.
  • Flip the clock: click it, and the hours and minutes turn over once.
  • Full screen: press F on either system. On Windows, F11 also works and Esc takes you back to a window.
  • Find any setting: type its name in the Search box at the top of Settings.

Choose a theme

  1. Move the mouse over the clock. Three round buttons appear in the bottom-right corner: click the gear to open Settings.
  2. Open the Screen tab. Under Themes, click the button with the name of your current theme.
  3. Click a theme to use it. To get more, see Themes.
